I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with a private practice in Westwood. I graduated from Oxford University in England with a degree in English, followed by a Masters degree in Social Anthropology. I worked for many years in documentary film making.
I see individuals, couples and families. I work with both children and adolescents on their own as well as with the whole family. I enjoy play therapy with children, and find it so valuable as a way of working that I offer "grown-up playtime" to my adult clients as well, if they wish to try it.
I have a particular interest in the harm reduction approach to substance abuse. (To learn more, please see the Harm Reduction page of this website.)
Some of the other issues I have experience working with include:
After moving to the USA, I made a career change, and took a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. I did my clinical training at the nationally renowned Southern California Counseling Center, where I completed the two year family therapy training program, the post-modern therapy training program, the schools program and the group leadership program.
I now supervise interns at the Counseling Center, and also teach at Antioch LA. For several years I ran groups for children dealing with divorce for the Culver City School district, in association with the Los Angeles Child Development Center.
As a transplant from England, I am particularly interested in helping others, both from Britain and elsewhere, adjust to the culture shock of living and working in LA.
